WAM representatives were honoured to have been present for the UUKMA South West Region Nurses` Day with a Forum Seminar on May 24th, hosted by the Exeter Malayalee Association. Sunil George (UUKMA South West Region`s President) officially welcomed all guests while Jayakumar Nair (UUKMA`s National Secretary) led the inauguration.

Melody Potdar (WAM Vice President) and team led the afternoon session which was a productive contribution to the UUKMA Seminar. Roundtable workshops were facilitated with topics such as interviewing on career pathways and managing challenges in nursing for effective communication and team work. Additionally, Melody addressed the importance of safeguarding and quick identification of problems in the workplace. The session proved to be interactive for all participants and beneficial for the attending nurses.

Other guest speakers included Joe Nidhiry on AI as enhancing rather than alienating nurses, Bindu Devalal on Leadership skills, Joby Puthukulangara on nurses` ethics and professionalism and Susan Philip on self-care and wellbeing. Joby Thomas (UUKMA South West Region`s Secretary) concluded the programme with the vote of thanks.

For WAM representatives, this seminar was a privilege to attend and participate in for the future of UUKMA. We are grateful to Melody and team for attending on behalf of WAM. We are also grateful to be involved in collaborative efforts with other associations in important areas.
